Google Pixel 10 Pro Review: The AI Camera King Tested

This Google Pixel 10 Pro review puts the AI camera king through its paces. Google’s compact flagship pairs a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED, a versatile triple camera with 100x Pro Res Zoom, and the Tensor G5 chip with a heavy dose of on-device AI.

Reviewers largely agree: it is one of the smartest Android phones you can buy, but Tensor G5 trails rival chips and the jump from the Pixel 9 Pro is evolutionary. Here is what five major reviews found, distilled into one verdict.

    Design and Build Quality

The Pixel 10 Pro keeps Google’s signature camera bar in a compact 152.8 x 72 x 8.6 mm body weighing 207 grams. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covers front and back, wrapped in a polished aluminum frame, and IP68 certification keeps dust and water out.

It comes in Moonstone, Jade, Porcelain and Obsidian. The fit and finish drew praise across reviews, with one noting it feels “reassuringly solid and familiar” in hand, and the 6.3-inch format keeps the full Pro experience manageable one-handed.

Display: A Bright LTPO OLED With One Caveat

The 6.3-inch LTPO OLED runs at 2856 x 1280 with an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness reaches a massive 3,300 nits outdoors (2,200 nits HDR), and lab tests confirmed readings above 3,100 nits in HDR content with excellent color accuracy.

Outdoor readability is superb and viewing angles stay stable with no color inversion. The caveat: PWM dimming flickers at a low 240Hz, and the accessibility “480Hz” toggle only helps at high brightness, offering no relief in dark environments for sensitive eyes.

Camera System: The AI Camera King

Google’s triple system — 50MP main (f/1.68, 24mm, 1/1.3″, OIS), 48MP ultrawide (f/1.7, doubles as macro) and 48MP 5x telephoto (f/2.8, 110mm, OIS) — delivers balanced, natural-looking photos with strong ultrawide results in sun and low light.

    Zoom and Pro Res Zoom

Optical zoom stays clean through 10x, and Pro Res Zoom uses AI to push magnification to 100x. It works well on static scenes but can glitch on text and moving subjects — a reminder that extreme zoom is enhancement, not captured detail.

    Selfie Camera and Video

The 42MP autofocus selfie camera bins down to about 10MP shots that look well-balanced even in low light. Video tops out at 8K 30fps with Video Boost, with 4K 60fps across all lenses and 10-bit HDR up to 30fps.

Performance: Tensor G5 and 16GB of RAM

The Tensor G5 (1x Cortex-X4 at 3.8GHz, 5x A725 at 3.1GHz, 2x A520 at 2.3GHz) ships with a generous 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM. Daily use feels impressively snappy — multitasking, streaming and photo processing show almost zero lag.

Benchmarks tell a different story: Geekbench 6.7 scored 2,308 single-core and 6,314 multi-core, roughly 30-55% behind Snapdragon 8 Elite rivals. Storage also underwhelms — sequential reads hit ~1,493 MB/s, far below the UFS 4.0 competition.

    Gaming Performance

Gamers should look elsewhere. The IMG DXT-48-1536 GPU lacks ray tracing, PUBG Mobile caps at 40fps even on HD, and Genshin Impact’s frame rate slid to an average of 39fps at the highest 120fps setting.

The phone stays cool under load (max 41.2°C) with minimal throttling, but a Snapdragon 8 Elite phone still produces over 40% more frames. This is a camera-and-AI phone, not a gaming rig.

    AI Features and Software

Android 16 ships with seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates — a promise PCMag and WIRED both highlighted. Gemini, Gemini Live, Circle to Search and a free Google VPN are baked in.

    Magic Cue and Camera Coach

Magic Cue surfaces contextual info — a restaurant booking link when you mention dinner, a contact’s number when someone asks. Camera Coach guides framing step by step, while Magic Eraser and Best Take round out the editing suite.

    Live Translate

Live in-call translation works offline after a 1.55GB download and mimics the speaker’s voice eerily well. But only a handful of languages are supported and the translation can be bumpy or flat-out wrong, so it still feels immature.

    Battery Life and Charging

The 4,870mAh battery delivered 21 hours of WiFi web browsing and 24 hours of video playback in lab tests — strong all-day stamina, though PCMag’s 12-hour 40-minute result and larger-batteryed rivals show room to improve.

Wired charging hits 30W (55% in about 30 minutes; a full charge took 86 minutes in testing). The new Pixelsnap magnetic ring enables 15W Qi2 wireless charging and even works with MagSafe surfaces.

    Connectivity, Pixelsnap and Biometrics

Connectivity is flagship-grade: Wi-Fi 7 across three bands with excellent throughput, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, NFC, Auracast and a fast ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Satellite support covers GPS, Galileo, BeiDou and more.

The USB-C port supports USB 3.2 speeds but only reads FAT32/exFAT — NTFS is out — and video output is mirroring-only. US buyers note: there is no physical SIM, only nano-SIM plus eSIM, and dual eSIM is not supported.

    Price, Colors and Availability

The Pixel 10 Pro starts at $1,099 in the US. In Europe it runs €1,099 (128GB) to €1,589 (1TB), with €1,199 for 256GB; in Australia the 256GB model starts around A$1,847.

Four colors are available: Moonstone, Jade, Porcelain and Obsidian. The 128GB base model drew criticism for being too small at this price tier.

    Alternatives and Comparison

The Pixel 9 Pro is almost the same phone, per Tom’s Guide — at a discount, it is the smarter buy for existing Pixel owners. The Pixel 10 Pro XL adds a 6.8-inch screen and bigger battery, while the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra offers stronger performance, longer battery and an S Pen for more money.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Review Verdict: Should You Buy It?

Buy it if you want Google’s best cameras and most capable AI in a compact, bright, long-supported Android phone — especially coming from an older device. PCMag’s 4.5/5 Editors’ Choice and WIRED’s 8/10 reflect that consensus.

Skip it if you own a Pixel 9 Pro, prioritize gaming or benchmark muscle, or need top-tier battery life. Check our tech reviews of 2026 for more in-depth verdicts.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Google Pixel 10 Pro worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if you are upgrading from an older phone and value camera quality, AI smarts and long software support over raw speed. It earned PCMag’s Editors’ Choice and a 4.5/5 rating, plus 8/10 from WIRED.

Should I upgrade from the Pixel 9 Pro?

No. Tom’s Guide concluded after two months that the 10 Pro feels too similar to the 9 Pro to justify upgrading, and reviewers describe the changes as evolutionary rather than transformative.

How good is the Pixel 10 Pro camera?

Among the best in any smartphone. The 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide with macro and 48MP 5x telephoto deliver sharp, natural images, and AI tools like Pro Res Zoom (up to 100x), Camera Coach and Magic Eraser extend what you can do — though some shots can look overprocessed.

How long does the battery last?

A full day comfortably, per lab tests of 21 hours web browsing and 24 hours video. PCMag measured 12 hours 40 minutes of continuous use and wanted more. Wired charging reaches 55% in about 30 minutes.

Does the Pixel 10 Pro have a physical SIM slot?

In the US there is no physical SIM — only eSIM. International models support nano-SIM plus eSIM, but dual physical SIMs and dual eSIM are not supported.

How much does the Google Pixel 10 Pro cost?

It starts at $1,099 in the US, €1,099 for 128GB in Europe, and around A$1,847 for 256GB in Australia.
